WE are the PNWC

Free Methodists are first and foremost a Kingdom people. Building on the legacies of John Wesley and B.T. Roberts, our identity is shaped by values that are both historical and aspirational. We are committed to a path that takes the whole gospel seriously and continually calls us to “both/and” convictions in an “either/or” world.

A look Back

The Pacific Northwest Conference of the Free Methodist Church traces its roots to 1876, when George Edwards arrived from New York as the first Free Methodist missionary to the region. Just nine years later, on June 10, 1885, the Oregon and Washington Territory Conference was officially organized in Beaverton, Oregon, with leaders like T. S. LaDueJohn Glen, and A. P. Goode laying the groundwork. As the movement quickly grew, the original conference was divided in 1896 to better serve the vast and diverse region. What began with a handful of bold, Spirit-led pioneers has become a thriving network of churches across the Northwest—committed to freedom, wholeness, and the transformative love of Jesus.

Looking ahead

The Pacific Northwest Conference is an intentional, Spirit‑driven movement advancing disciple-making, leadership development, and church multiplication across the PNW. Guided by a clear vision—120 new expressions of Free Methodist faith by 2028—and rooted in values of life-giving holiness, love-driven justice, Christ-compelled multiplication, cross-cultural collaboration, and God-given revelation, we embody faith in action. Through prayer, coaching, leadership, and grassroots initiatives, we’re building healthy, diverse communities thriving in Christ across the region.
