FMC USA Missionary
Abolitionist Movement/Set Free Movement
Pastor Kevin Austin is a Free Methodist missionary working domestically and globally to end modern-day slavery through the Set Free Movement. The Free Methodist Church, with roots in the 19th century abolitionist movement, is again championing the cause of holistic freedom. Then, as now, Free Methodists have a special preference for the poor and those who are vulnerable to injustice. In the past, Kevin and his family served for seven years as missionaries with the FMC in Thailand.
Education- Latin America
The Gómez family is based in Medellín, Colombia, where their ministry responsibilities are threefold. Locally, Dr. Ricardo and Beth work with a team of key leaders to develop an urban church planting initiative and open FM churches in Medellín. Nationally, they work with Director Libni Gasca to develop a similar initiative in strategic cities throughout Colombia. Internationally, Ricardo continues to assist with ordination of FM pastors and serves as a part-time, volunteer professor at the Seminario Bíbilico de Colombia, a nondenominational seminary training leaders.
DARIN & JILL LAND
Appointed career missionaries in June 2015, Darin serves as Asia Regional Assistant for Leadership Development. Once the Lands have secured adequate financial support, they expect to live in Manila where they have served faithfully since 2009. While Darin and Jill will continue their connection with Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary (APNTS), their primary work will be helping to develop and implement a strategy to train and credential Free Methodist leaders across Asia. They will also help support and launch a new outreach ministry to young adults in metro Manila.
DELIA NÜESCH-OLVER & PAUL OLVER
Delia: Area Director
Paul: Coordinator of Pastoral Formation
Dr. Delia Nüesch-Olver serves as Area Director for Latin America, overseeing the Free Methodist Church in 13 countries. She coaches and supervises North American missionaries and national leaders to fuel and sustain a biblical movement to reach Latin Americans for Christ, with priority on empowering leaders, planting churches in strategic cities and developing sustainable systems. Dr. Paul Olver, Delia’s husband, works to develop a team and a system to multiply leaders and prepare people for ordination.
Leadership Development; ICCM
Phyllis works in leadership development and International Child Care Ministries (ICCM). She is involved in ministries and activities at the eight ICCM schools throughout the country. A special friendship with a clan of nomadic Fulani has given Phyllis the opportunity to open additional schools for Fulani children and their parents. With a prominent Fulani chief, Phyllis is teaching and promoting planned grazing and grazing reserves as a way of preserving grass lands and food supplies in the country. She also works with FM women in projects such as a sewing center, poultry farm and small business loans.
Asia Area Director
As the Asia Area Director since June 2014, Eric oversees the missionary team in Asia; partners with Asian national leaders to build and support strategies that will grow the church; and works to more purposefully connect FMC-Asia with the FMC-USA, building partnerships and connections that will be mutually beneficial. Although they travel in Asia several months each year, home base for the Spanglers is in the Seattle area to better facilitate an alliance between the church in Asia and the U.S. Helping to manage the home office and traveling, Virginia offers support and care to Asia ministries and missionaries.
