Horacio Ahumada, Director of Hispanic Ministries

It is a great honor to work in the PNWC team.  I was a pastor in Mexico and I started a Hispanic Free Methodist Church in Sunnyside, Washington and another one in Wenatchee.  My vision is to plant, form and supervise Hispanic congregations with the support and open hearts of American churches and leaders willing to work towards bringing Hispanic people that live in the State of Washington to Jesus Christ and, in the future, to all those that come to the United States.

My wife is Laura.  My children are Horacio (Burbank CA), Laurita (University of WA), and Josslyn (junior high school).  After God, they are my great support and love.  I am thankful for my family.  They are wonderful.

Jim Harbour, Assistant Superintendent &
Director of Conference Ministries
There is joy in the journey! From youth ministry to public education to administrative ministry at Wenatchee Free Methodist Church to serving as a regional representative for the Free Methodist Foundation, it is now a privilege and an honor to serve as the Assistant Superintendent and Director of Conference Ministries in the Pacific Northwest Conference. My task is to assist the Superintendent in helping the PNW reach the next level in its missional effectiveness as well as overseeing the conference’s day-to-day administrative details. I can’t imagine being in a more compelling place on life’s journey than on this PNW team committed to serving Jesus Christ.

Rebecca and I, along with our son, Jesse, live in Redmond and attend the Timberlake Free Methodist Church. Our daughter, Erin, is currently attending Columbia Basin College with plans to enter the medical profession. As a family we thrive on skiing, small groups, chocolate, and good books.

Kathy Stegman, Administrative Assistant

I have the privilege of providing a wide variety of administrative support services for Superintendent Whitehead and the conference. I process most of the correspondence, documents and reports (other than financial) that are a part of keeping ministries running smoothly. I coordinate meetings and events, large and small. A significant percentage of my work involves tracking the process of ministerial candidates. Almost every day brings some new aspect to my work. I thrive on the variety!

I especially appreciate the opportunities I have to encourage the conference leaders and our wonderful pastors. God has placed this desire in my heart. Having been an FM pastor’s wife for over 30 years, I have a pretty good idea what it is like to lead a local church. I try to do my work well so as to make their job just a little easier.

Arlene Weigand, Office Assistant

I am also an ordained elder in the Free Methodist Church and currently appointed as Resident Director for Antioch House, a conference ministry focused on empowering young adults for urban and global ministry. In November of 2002 I moved to Seattle after eight years of pastoring our Brooklyn, New York church. Following the tragic events of 9/11/01, God graciously led me to Seattle for a time of healing and restoration. It is through the opportunities I presently have of ministering in both this Conference Office and in Antioch House that I have experienced new avenues of growth and I celebrate what I see God doing here in the Pacific Northwest.

Matt Whitehead, Superintendent

I have the privilege of serving as Superintendent for the Pacific Northwest Conference of the Free Methodist Church. I was elected to this responsibility in 1999 after serving for 17 years as a senior pastor.

It is the responsibility of the superintendent to oversee all of the administrative functions of the conference and to represent the conference to the denomination and to the community at large. I coordinate conference ministries in cooperation with pastors and lay leaders from local churches. One of the most important responsibilities I have is lifting up our Partnering to Impact Eternity vision of church planting, local church revitalization and ministry to the poor.

I work with churches during times of pastoral transition, oversee the process for those who feel called to ordained ministry, provide leadership training for our pastoral team, and come alongside local congregations in times of celebration as well as in difficult times.

I really enjoy my job.  I earnestly believe that God has called me to this ministry and it is thrilling to have a “bird’s eye view” of the way God is working in and through His Church.
