 Approximately 137 people attended the Prayer Retreat on January 22-24 at Warm Beach Camp. The event was life-changing for many. Here are some more comments from those who attended:

Program Theme: “Pathways to Holy Living” 

Guest Presenters: George Barna, founder of the Barna Group, and author of Maximum Faith, and Dr. Kevin Mannoia, Chair of the Wesleyan Holiness Consortium, and a former FMC Bishop. 

Purpose: To assist pastors and leaders in understanding the message of holiness and its power in engaging and transforming communities.

 Jill Parsons will share her “big adventure” and how she ended up in Kenya, serving with our Free Methodist Missions as a VISA volunteer and helping with ICCM.    Jill has been in Kenya since Jan. 2011 and has had the opportunity to work with 6 of our 7 schools there. She would like to express appreciation to anyone who sponsors a child through ICCM anywhere in the world, as well as answer any questions you may have about sponsoring a child. She will have packets of children that need to be sponsored and tell about our schools in Kenya, in particular.

This class is designed to help you establish a clear theology and practice of pastoral counseling.  Pastoral counseling from a Wesleyan perspective accepts the wisdom gained from the study of God’s word as our source and turns to the resources of the social sciences, counseling practices and pastoral experiences.  As a pastor who does counseling, you will gain the most by actively participating in the discussions of this class as well as preparing for the case studies.  We will discuss questions that address specific needs of the people you counsel (protecting their dignity and confidentiality).  For more information, click here: Counseling Course

Engaged Encounter:  April 20-22, October 12-14

This special weekend helps couples dig into those areas of expectations, roles, values, and patterns of communication so important to understand and examine prior to saying “I do.”  Any couples in pre-marital counseling are highly encouraged to invest a weekend in preparing not for their wedding but for their marriage.

Marriage Encounter:  March 23-25, October 26-28

Whether couples have been married just a few years or a few decades, Marriage Encounter will help them “go the distance.”  Marriage Encounter provides hope and healing for marriages in distress while also helping good marriages become better.  An M.E. weekend is not just a series of lectures punctuated with a romantic dinner and a restful afternoon walk.  M.E. presenters provide biblical insights, share stories from their own lives, offer practical ways for couples to engage at deeper levels.  There is even time in the schedule for couples to reflect, write, talk, and work through what is being presented before getting home and facing the pressure of “normal” life.
