Joys and Responsibilities

“What will I be expected to GIVE?”

  Antioch House residents move into a three-fold focus:

  • Education - Each resident is to be either a  full-time student or involved full-time in a cross-cultural ministry.

  • Community – You will be a part of a Christ-centered, urban, multi-cultural directed home that seeks to live out the Acts 2:42 principles.  We are a community where each resident is committed to the building up of the community through weekly attendance at house meetings and ongoing investment in fellowship, prayer and support for each other.

  • Leadership development - As a resident, your commitment is to attend an urban Free Methodist Church in the Seattle City area and then to link up with a mentor who serves in a ministry leadership role of that church.  We also help each resident develop leadership skills and broaden their multi-cultural awareness through guest speakers that address Christian multi-ethnic leadership issues; participation in cross-cultural service projects and shared leadership of house responsibilities.

“What can I expect to GAIN?”
With each area of focus mentioned above comes responsibilities and commitments that bear the fruit of great blessings.  So that you can give your energies to these things, several helps are provided for you such as:
  • Free housing including kitchen and laundry facilities;
  • Free phone and internet service;
  • A house van for transportation needs;
  • Counsel, prayer and support of a godly, prayer-centered board;
  • Pastoral guidance from the Resident Life Coordinator.

“I am excited about Antioch House.  I am even more excited to learn of your interest

in joining this community.  There are some significant requirements and expectations,

but believe me, the blessings will greatly add to your life and call.”

Pastor Arlene Weigand, Resident Life Coordinator
